London Medical Centre

The Client

Based in London’s West End, LMC is one of the country's leading independent healthcare centres. Established in 1991, they are now at the forefront of the diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, eye, heart and hormone diseases, seeing over 8000 patients and providing treatment for nearly 1500 people each year.

The Client Issues

In October 2004, LMC approached Fifosys to review their existing IT arrangements and prepare them for three very significant (and very imminent) changes:

  • Relocation to new business premises.
  • The addition of a range of new services to their portfolio and a corresponding increase in staff from 15 to 35 within 6 months.
  • The sourcing and implementation of a new CRM (Customer Relationship Management) application, and subsequent migration of data from the existing application.

LMC were anxious to avoid having multiple suppliers involved in the process and asked us to deliver and support a complete, long term solution. In short, they were looking for a business partner to take full responsibility for their mission-critical IT infrastructure.

The Fifosys Solution

By February 2005 (less than five months after first being called in), Fifosys had achieved full implementation of the solution, including:

  • Full analysis and consultancy
  • Decommissioning of the existing IT setup and relocation to the new premises
  • Installation of the structured cabling required for the Telephone and IT infrastructure
  • Implementation of 3 new servers that identified the key roles for application software
  • Upgrading of the desktop environment for 35 users
  • Control of the whole operation - including liaison with third parties - to ensure
    there was no service downtime for LMC
  • Training for LMC staff

Continuous Support

Not content with that, we have since worked with LMC on a whole range of solutions to make their IT infrastructure more reliable,more productive and more adaptable to the needs of a growing business, including:

  • SPAM reduction - filtering SPAM through Blackspider
  • Security - installing firewalls to control access
  • Secure Remote Access - implementing a Terminal Server solution which allows all
    remote consultants to securely access the service required
  • Business Continuity - implementing a second server offsite, running DFS
    (Distributed File System) between the onsite server
  • Offsite Data Backup - implementing an offsite Data/SQL and Exchange backup solution
  • IT Policy - creating and maintaining an IT Policy that LMC staff adhere to
  • Archiving - installing independent storage devices for long term data retention
