IT Audit
An IT audit is the first piece of work we do for a client.
Reason why we start with an audit
We believe that a two-way relationship will allow for a stronger long term partnership. Before we charge you a monthly fee and ask you to sign a contract, we need to be sure that we can support the systems in their current state.
If the systems are not meeting the business needs, there will be an increased demand on our support desk and undoubtedly frustrations on both sides. As we take responsibility for ensuring the incidents are resolved, so we need to be confident from the outset.
Business benefits of an IT Audit
Even if you decide to use someone else for your IT, the audit report will proove to be a useful document.
The majority of businesses have made significant investment in their IT infrastructure over a number of years. An IT audit from Fifosys can help you understand what your investment is worth today: which servers are still "fit for purpose", which laptops will need replacing, has the software been installed correctly.
Fifosys also works with businesses looking to expand through acquisition, either directly or through their advisors, as part of a due diligence process. The state of the IT infrastructure, age of servers and other hardware, the software being used, can be a big part of painting the picture of how the management run the business and of course affect the future cash flow if there is a significant investment required.
An IT audit can also be useful as an independent assessment of how the current providers of IT services are performing - whether they are an internal team or an outsourced company - many businesses find a regular report on the state of IT helpful. Click to download a case study on IT audits.
What an IT audit covers
In carrying out the report, we look in detail at every aspect of your IT, from the network infrastructure and how it has been set up, to the servers, desktops, laptops and other hardware, and how they have been configured.
We will send an initial questionnaire to help our engineers prepare for the audit. Following receipt of this, an engineer will visit your premises to look at the servers, network infrastructure and a selection of workstations. A detailed report is then written up and presented back to the client.
An audit will highlight any issues around security and other business risks that your organisation may be facing. For example, one of the things we look for is "single points of failure". These are areas of the network, where if they fail, key services like email may be out of action for up to 5 days. We highlight in our audit report the risks that you accepting (probably unknowingly) with your current set up.
Costs
We charge for our audit service at cost to cover our engineers' time in preparing the document. If you decide to move ahead with a further service from Fifosys, we refund these costs.
