The last year has been incredibly challenging for all of us - although one sector that has felt the strain more than many others has been social care. With that in mind, we're delighted by the news that Camille Leavold, co-founder of Abbots Care - who is one of our partners, has been named as the first recipient of the Chief Nurse’s Adult Social Care award.
Abbots Care is a business that Camille started along with her mother and sister in 1995 to care for people who live at home and are elderly, physically disabled or who have a learning disability. The service is driven by supporting service users in their right to lead normal lives living in their own homes.
Initially, Camille with her mother and sister, started Abbots Care having become an approved agency for Hertfordshire CC. Today, thanks to the development and oversight from Camille, the service supports almost 1,000 people who are cared for at home and employs 500 care workers.
Abbots Care began their relationship with Fifosys four years ago and we've been incredibly fortunate, and proud, to support them throughout their journey - especially during the pandemic.
We're delighted by the news that Camille has worked hard and consistently throughout the pandemic to develop schemes of work that could help counter the effects of the epidemic on service users and staff, to help support the NHS, to assist partner organisations, and to offer crucial leadership and support to staff.
The awards were officially launched last month to recognise the exceptional efforts of the social care workforce and to bring recognition of the sector in line with NHS workforce awards.
“I want to offer big congratulations to Camille, who is hugely deserving of this first award. The social care workforce is full of inspiring leaders, especially those who have helped and supported staff during one of the most challenging years they will ever experience.I look forward to seeing other excellent examples of exceptional efforts within the sector as more recipients receive these very important awards.” Helen Whateley, Minister for Care
