The Challenge

The challenge facing Dixon Jones was to replace existing server hardware to improve performance and meet the growing business demands. With recent and on-going expansion, the business needed to review their infrastructure to create an agile, scalable IT architecture to cater for growth and deliver operational excellence.

Our Solution

Having evaluated the existing IT infrastructure against the current and anticipated demands of the business, Fifosys recommended a full upgrade of hardware and operating systems.

Fifosys replaced the existing servers with upgraded hardware, which enabled the consolidation of two physical servers on site into one, whilst delivering greater capacity. The virtual servers were then migrated onto the new hardware.

To safeguard data backup and ensure business continuity, operating systems were upgraded with auto failover and the latest security features installed, and a new email filter was added to enable complete recovery in the event of mail failure. Finally, a new on and off site backup system was recommended to deliver secure, rapid and robust data backup with evidence based technology.

The Benefits

The new infrastructure solution is suitable to support Dixon Jones’ business for the next five years, with the capacity to allow for growth – both in terms of number of users and data storage. The solution delivers:

  • Faster access for all users, increasing productivity among the expanding workforce
  • Increased storage capacity for data
  • Added layers of data security to underpin business continuity
  • Robust backup systems
