Amazon Web Services - AWS

What is Amazon Web Services?

Amazon Web Services, or AWS for short, can be thought of as Amazon's equivalent to Microsoft's Azure offering. It is an on-demand cloud service, offering APIs and cloud computing platforms. AWS can be deployed by businesses of any size, from smaller start-ups to the largest enterprises.

It does not have the same global reach as Azure, but the AWS platform is currently available in 24 regions and should continue expanding in the future. In Gartner's 2020 Magic Quadrant for Cloud AI Developer Services, Amazon Web Services was listed as a 'Leader' and outperformed Microsoft, Google and IBM in terms of both the 'completeness of vision’ and 'ability to execute metrics’.

Is AWS right for my business?

AWS also operates a consumption model, where you only pay for what you use. The service is typically more developer-friendly than Azure, whilst suitability for web applications is another major attraction, especially when dealing with applications that you need to scale quickly and on demand.
